IRS Delrin Bushings - who has installed them?

Found two older threads on here with the Search, just trying to get some feedback from those who have undertaken the UCA and LCA Delrin Bushing swap. It looks like a pain in the arse, but I'm considering getting it over with finally.

How bad was the install? I've looked the instructions over for 2 kits, looks like the worst part is straightening and prepping the tabs before bolting the arms in.

Bruce (ac427cobra) is a real stand up guy with lots of road racing knowledge. Have you seen any of his ZO6 congo line videos??? Well anyways...I've bought a couple of things (non-suspension related) from him in the past. He is also great about answering PM's and explaining modifications. If I'm not mistaken, he races both a Cobra R and GT500...so he knows alot about both platforms.

Check out his new s-197 brake ducts:

I'll check with my buddy regarding the Delrin bushings...he is local and seems to be happy with the set up.

Later...Dave

Are these the bushings that go in the mounts for the IRS to the chassis? A torch will work well to get the old bushings out. The new ones going in are pretty easy.

He sells those too, I already have Urethane ones from Maximum in my IRS Subframe.

I'm looking at doing the Upper and Lower Control Arms, those seem a touch easier to get out.

Just looks like a big job.

The tabs are the easiest part. What i did with the tabs is i bought some threaded rod and a couple of nuts. I cut the threaded rod down to about 6" or so. I installed the threaded rod into one of the tabs and put 2 of the nuts on it and slide the threaded rod thru the other tab. I them spread out the tabs by tightning the nuts in opposite direction therefor opening the tabs a little wider. All you need to do is remove the slag from when they were welded and they are ready.

I got AC427's whole kit. Awesome! I can't say enough about the difference in ride/handling.

He didn't have the bushing removal tools when I bought the kit. The bushing removal was the biggest pain in the ass you can imagine. Those tools will make it MUCH easier.

Just keep in mind the IRS assembly weighs well over 300lbs. A tough job for one guy, but not impossible.

I've done most of it. It's not too bad. Getting to old bushings out is the most time comsuming part. It is easier with the proper tools and/or a press.

AC427s stuff is awesome and fit is second to none.

Shall we have ourselves a Bushing Party?

Ash, any concerns of weakening the alum arms when drilling for the Grease Fittings?

I'm curious as to what Maximum has to say on lubrication of their kit without such fittings. My A-Arms have fittings in them.
