CA Speedway Jan 3rd and 4th
Anyone going to CA Speedway Jan 3rd and 4th? I will be there both days. Hopefully the weather will be good. I usually don't like to race at this track if I can help it. Its usually windy and very hot during the summer months. BUT--it should be pretty good this coming weekend. Mild temps and hopefully no wind, and a DA that should be reasonable.
I sure hope the track is prepped.

Its a bracket race--two classes, electronics and non electronics, with $3,000 going to the winner of each class and $1,000 going to the runner up.

So, I ran at CA Speedway this weekend. Because of the weather and a whole lot of Junior Dragster cars (75+ easily, maybe more)--I only got one pass all day on Saturday. A 10.605 @ 126.21 MPH with a 1.437 60' time---which at the time was a new personal best for me!
Got some great shots of the car coming off the line... ![]() ![]() So, first run on Sunday--Run for the Money--with only yesterdays single pass to go on, I dial in right at 10.60. I make a pass and turn an .014 light, with a 10.595 @ 126.35 MPH. I missed a perfect dial by .005!!! And, another new best (barely). Didn't matter though because the winner missed her dial by .003, so she got the money. ![]() Then, out of all of the cars in eliminations, (200+) I had to line up against a rail that was piloted by a two time national JR dragster champion. She cut a .012 light, I redlighted. BUT....I ran a new best of 10.544 @ 126.12 MPH! So, I go back to my pit area. Start cleaning up the car......then notice smoke coming from the mustang that is adjacent to my pit area (not mine). I walk over, curious at first, then realize its coming from the interior, run to the rig that was on the other side and yell to the guys that there mustang is on fire! They put it out, but if I wouldn't have noticed that smoke, that car might have burned to the ground as the owners were inside the rig with a couple other cars. So that was my weekend, I have a couple of in car videos where the sound is pretty damn good if I do say so myself. The wife also took some great videos about 30 feet from the start line. AND YES, I DROVE MY CAR AGAIN, THIS TIME 84 MILES TO THE TRACK, RACED ALL WEEKEND, THEN DROVE HOME ANOTHER 84 MILES......ITS STILL A STREET CAR!! HAHAHA! It was an expensive meet and you got linited runs but I always figure that any trip to the strip is worth it if I get a personal best. So congratulations.
But, according to your sig pic, you exactly matched your Calif Speedway at Famoso? That is interesting. BTW: I hate everything about Jr Dragsters from the way they sound to their entire program. IMHO, they should run separately at their own events. Nice video. Makes me want to come out of retirement and run down some track somewhere. |

oops, no I forgot to change that. My best at Famoso is still a 10.67 as last time I was up there was in June. In June I didn't have the bogarts and the car also weighed 130 more lbs. So WITH the bogarts the car is now 250 lbs lighter---which is the only reason why I have now ran faster at CA Speedway. I bet I can turn a 10.4X now at Famoso, but won't know for a couple more months.
